The Gardens

60 acres of gardens, all to yourselves

Rose gardens, ancient trees and lawns made for celebrating.

The backdrop

Covering sixty acres of beautifully maintained lawns, formal borders and woodland walks, the gardens at Blake Hall look magnificent all year round. Spring brings bulbs and blossom to the grounds, summer fills the meadow with wildflowers and the rose garden comes into its own. Autumn turns the ancient trees to copper and gold, and on a clear winter’s day the views across the grounds have a quiet drama that photographs beautifully.

Where light and laughter linger

Formal Lawns & Terraces

The expansive lawns and terrace spaces between the barns create an effortless transition from ceremony to reception. Perfect for welcome drinks, lawn games and group portraits.

Rose Garden and Borders

The rose garden and herbaceous borders bloom in rich colour, offering classic floral backdrops that your photographer will love and your guests will not stop talking about.

Ancient Trees & Woodland Paths

Shaded by centuries-old trees, the winding paths are ideal for romantic strolls, golden hour photos and discovering peaceful pockets tucked away from the main lawn.

The Gardens Through the Year

The Blake Hall gardens look different in every season and that is part of the charm. Whenever you marry, the grounds will look like they were made for it.

Spring

The gardens wake up gradually, then all at once. Drifts of daffodils appear across the lawns from late February, followed by tulips in deep reds, purples and creams, and the wisteria that climbs the old walls in cascades of lilac. It is one of the most romantic times to marry at Blake Hall, before the season has fully arrived and the grounds still feel like a secret.

Summer

High summer brings the rose garden into full bloom, with borders packed with colour from June through to August. The wildflower meadow edges hum with life, and the herbaceous borders reach their peak just as wedding season does. Long evenings, golden light and a garden that has never looked better.

Autumn

September, October and November bring a completely different kind of beauty. Dahlias carry the colour through from summer, while the trees begin to turn across the grounds, wrapping the barns in amber, rust and gold. Autumn light at Blake Hall is something photographers talk about long after the day is done.

Winter

The gardens take on a quieter character in winter, with bare branches, frost on the lawns and the old trees showing their true form against open skies. For candlelit ceremonies and intimate celebrations, the grounds offer a stillness that no other season can quite match.

“We had the most magical day! It went far better than we ever could have imagined. It was truly unforgettable, we wouldn’t have changed anything, and it was in no small part due to all of your help. All of our guests said how wonderful the venue and the food was. If we ever decide to renew our vows in the future, we will surely be in touch!”
