A different kind of wedding day

Say Your Vows as the Golden Hour Glows

For couples who want a relaxed, evening-focused celebration, Twilight Weddings at Blake Hall begin later in the day and flow beautifully into drinks, music and dancing beneath the ancient barn beams.

What Is a Twilight Wedding?

Not everyone wants to start at noon. Some couples are happiest when the day feels unhurried, informal and centred entirely on the moments they love most; the ceremony, the celebration and the dancing that goes on just a little too long.

A Twilight Wedding begins later in the afternoon with your ceremony, followed by drinks, evening food and a lively reception with the people who matter most. No rigid schedule, no rushing through the day. Just the good stuff.

Twilight Weddings are available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and some Sunday dates from April to October for a minimum of 80 guests

Ceremonies at Blake Hall

Your Twilight Wedding begins with a ceremony set within the historic barns and gardens of Blake Hall, home to the Capel Cure family for nearly 230 years and quite possibly one of the loveliest spots in Essex to get married.

Couples can exchange vows inside the elegant Hay Barn, with its beam-lined aisle and stunning picture window, or outside beneath the canopy of the Saddlery, with guests looking on from cedar wood benches on the lawn as the afternoon light softens around you.

Celebrate into the night

The Evening Reception in the Essex Barn

Following the ceremony, guests spill out on the the lawns between the barns for drinks, canapes and may be more substantial bowl food (weather permitting) before the celebration moves into the magnificent Essex Barn.

This glorious 17th century barn provides the perfect setting for an evening party, with dining space, a dance floor and a licensed bar all under one roof. Whether you opt for relaxed sharing platters, grazing boards or something a little more celebratory, the focus of a Twilight Wedding is exactly what it should be; good food, good company and a night worth remembering.

Why couples choose twilight weddings

A Celebration Focused on What Matters Most

Twilight Weddings suit couples who prefer a relaxed and informal atmosphere over a traditional full-day schedule, who love the idea of a late afternoon ceremony flowing straight into a lively reception, or who simply want to invite a larger group of friends and family for the celebration without the constraints of a seated wedding breakfast. By keeping things focused on the ceremony and evening, the whole day feels effortless and joyful.
